Swedbank has appointed Jonas Erikson as Head of Group Treasury with effect from 13 July 2009. He succeeds Mikael Edler who will take on his new position as Head of Region West at Swedbank on 1 January 2010.

As part of reorganising Swedbank´s Swedish Banking business unit, expanding the current four regions into six, Swedbank has appointed Johan Smedman and Marie Halling as new regional heads for the Central Region respectively the Eastern Region. In the new structure, the Swedish regional heads will have a clearer business mandate and also be part of Group Executive Management.

A key element of the bank’s future strategy is to shift the responsibility and authority closer to the bank’s customers through a formalisation of responsibility. Swedbank and Sparbanken Syd today signed a new contract of collaboration announcing that Sparbanken Syd will continue to offer Swedbank’s products and services up until April 30th, 2010. The agreements also includes IT partnerships. Sparbanken Syd’s customers will be offered Swedbank Robur’s asset management and insurances service offerings even after April 30th, 2010. Sparbanken Syd will at this time also transfer over to an independent IT solution.
