On January 14th SEK 45 million was distributed to 79 non-profit organizations at the annual event, Hjärtedagen (The Heart Day), an initiative within the frame of Swedbank's engagement in society. The money comes from Swedbank's customers who save in charity funds.

Through saving in Swedbank Robur's charity funds the savers are contributing with 1-2 per cent of their fund value to non-profit organizations each year. This year the savers contributed with a total of SEK 45 million for charitable purposes. On Swedbank’s Hjärtedag the money is given to the supported organizations. Since the start in 1992 about SEK 800 million has been donated to non-profit organizations through the charity funds.

- I like to thank all our customers for saving in Swedbank Robur's charity funds and thereby contributing to a significant support for a large number of non-profit organizations. To offer the possibility for our customers to save for themselves while doing something good, I see as a natural part of Swedbank's ambition to promote a sustainable society, says Michael Wolf, CEO of Swedbank.

Robur offers charity savings in the funds Banco Humanfonden, Banco Samaritfonden, Banco Ideell Miljö, Banco Kultur and Banco Hjälp. The management of the charity funds has specific requirements on social and environmental factors. This means that companies that the funds invest in must take responsibility for human rights, working conditions and environment. Through an active dialogue and field visits, Swedbank Robur continuously reviews how well the companies take responsibility for their employees and the environment.

The saver’s contribution means a lot for the business in the non-profit organizations that Swedbank cooperates with. The donations are among other things, used for emergency and relief work, fighting diseases or drugs, and efforts to improve the environment.
